Our story
From a diagnosis to a tradition.
The story of Léon, 18 months old, and the promise his parents made in their first days at the hospital.

01 / 07
The diagnosis
Léon is only 18 months old when the word leukemia enters Caroline and Alexis’ lives. Acute B lymphoblastic leukemia. In a matter of hours, their world turns upside down, their landmarks give way, and a new rhythm sets in: the hospital, the treatments, the waiting.
02 / 07
Six thousand kilometres
During the first month of hospitalization, Alexis estimates driving nearly 6,000 kilometres between home and the hospital. Each drive is a hope, a worry, a new routine to invent.
03 / 07
The Charles-Bruneau unit
The family is supported by the Charles-Bruneau pediatric hemato-oncology unit throughout treatment. Doctors, nurses, volunteers: a full team that cares for the child as much as for the parents.

Leucan, from day one
From the very first days at the hospital, Leucan is there. Financial aid, psychological support, family mentoring, administrative help. The Québec organization supports children fighting cancer and their families, free of charge, at every step.
05 / 07
The promise
Caroline and Alexis make a promise in those first days: if Léon pulls through, they will give back. Not an abstract vow. A concrete commitment, which will take the shape of an annual benefit dinner.
06 / 07
The bell moment
In pediatric hemato-oncology units, the bell marks the end of treatment. After two years of care, Léon is almost there. One chapter closes; another opens: giving back.

Cœur & Traditions
The name brings together two essentials: children’s health and passing on Wendat culture. A gastronomic dinner in Wendake, crafted by Restaurant La Traite, with an auction in support of Leucan. A tradition that begins.
